One of our current projects is designing a PVR
(personal video recorder) that will allow users of any audio and video equipment the same functionality as PVR’s found in digital cable and satellite receivers,
but can be used with normal cable boxes, VCR’s, PVRless satellite receivers or any other piece of video equipment.
Both MPEG4, and MPEG2 will be supported along with MP3.
Possible features are pausing live shows or broadcasts, or even rewinding them for “instant replays”. Of course recording
shows on the internal hard disk (fat16/fat32) is also a wonderful feature allowing your hours of recording and never having to find another video cassette.
Other possible additions are:
- a serial port or ethernet port so external devices can control the playback, recording and pausing features
- USB 2.0
- flash card support MMC/SD/CF
