Select your question for the iDOT from below:

Please find below the following answers.

  • Why 512M max for a player and 2G as a reader?

The internal firmware that runs the iDOT can only support upto 512M in size for the media, however once the iDOT is connected to PC/MAC and shows up as a disk drive the supported media then is 2G

  • Hows does directory support work?

Through the dial on the front of the iDOT you can easily browse through the directories on the player. It will support uptp 4 levels deep of directory. This means you can have a ROCK and an 80’s dance directory and in the ROCK directory you can have separate directories for AC/DC, Pink Floyd, and Metallica. This makes finding the songs you want much more easy.

  • What about battery life?

Running on just two small AAA’s the player will last around 10 hours while running from CF card. However IBM microdrives are supported but these cards are power hungry and will only last upto 1 hour. External power source would be needed for longer playtimes.

The IBM microdrive can be connected indefinitely while connected to the USB port as the power will be supplied by the PC/MAC

  • What OS’s are supported?

All Windows platforms from WIN98SE/ME/2000/XP are supported as they allow USB mass storage devices. Also MAC OS 8.6 and about are also supported.

  • How do I connect and download MP3’s?

With the supplies USB cable connect it to a USB port on the PC/MAC. The OS will load the appropriate drivers for USB Mass Storage Device and you will see your player become a disk drive on the computer. In the case of a PC it will mount usually as E:, but any drive letter can be used.

Once your player has mounted itself as a disk drive you can now drag and drop to the new drive, all the data transfer over the USB is transparent and you’d never know it connected externally. When downloading and ripping new MP3 files you can do it direct the this new drive and there will be no need to copy and move them all later.
